The basket of pink things by the sofa

I do not have a gym. I have a stretch of floor between the sofa and the bookshelf, available between roughly 5:50 and 6:20 in the morning, before the first small footsteps upstairs end the session whether it has ended or not.
For a long time my equipment for this was a towel and good intentions. Then I ordered a fifteen-piece Pilates kit, and now there is a basket of pink things living by the sofa, which everyone in this family has opinions about.
What Is Actually in the Basket
More than I expected to use, honestly. A small yoga ball, a Pilates ring, five flat resistance bands and a figure-eight one, a stretching strap, grippy socks, and a bag to carry it all, which in my case carries it from one side of the room to the other. The pieces feel sturdier than the price suggested. Reviewers who compared kits before buying keep landing on this one, and after a month mine shows no signs of giving up.
Twenty minutes with the ring and a band or two turns out to be a genuine workout. Not a dramatic one. The kind where you stand up afterwards and your hips have quietly forgiven you for all the sitting.
The one fair complaint, echoed in reviews: there is no proper exercise guide in the box. If you have never done Pilates, you will need a video or a class to know what the ring is for. The kit assumes you arrive with a plan.
The Sock Development
The grippy socks were the sleeper hit, though not for me. Jenny confiscated them within the week and now wears them as her official house socks, padding around with tiny non-slip soles. I bought a second pair for myself and we maintain a fragile treaty.
I will not tell you this basket changed my body. I will tell you the floor between the sofa and the bookshelf now has a purpose, and that at six in the morning, purpose is most of the battle.
